Slain police officer Subodh Kumar Singh’s wife on Tuesday said that his husband will get justice only if his murderers are killed. She further said that her husband always worked with complete honesty and believed in taking responsibilities. Condemning the incident, Governor Ram Naik said that strict action will be taken against those who committed the crime. Meanwhile, after initial protests, the family of a youth who died during the mob violence over alleged illegal cow slaughter agreed to conduct his last rites as the district administration announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh. In the afternoon, the family had refused to proceed for last rites demanding the government announce Rs 50 lakh compensation, pension to the deceased's parents and a police job to his elder brother. Sumit Kumar's father Amarjeet Singh, 55, had also demanded funeral to his son with same honour as was accorded to Inspector Kumar, who was also killed in the mob violence on Monday.

Earlier, sister of Police inspector Subodh Kumar Singh, who was killed by a mob in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr on Monday, claimed her brother was targeted because he was involved in the investigation of Akhlaq lynching case.
Talking to IndiaTV, Subodh Kumar Singh's sister also raised questions over the role of local policemen. "Why was my brother alone in the vehicle at the time of attack?" she asked.

Earlier, Abhishek, the son of deceased cop, told the media that his father wanted him to be good citizen. "My father wanted me to be a good citizen who doesn't incite violence in society in the name of religion. Today my father lost his life in this Hindu-Muslim dispute, tomorrow whose father will lose his life?" he said.
Meanwhile, reports have also emerged that Singh was shot by his own revolver. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this so far.
Four persons have been arrested after police lodged an FIR against over two dozen people for rioting and murder in connection with Bulandshahr violence
As many as 27 people have been named in the FIR, registered around 3 am, while cases have been lodged against 50 to 60 unidentified people, police said. The main accused Yogesh Raj is still absconding. Six teams have been formed to arrest the culprits, ADG Law and Order Anand Kumar told reporters in Lucknow. "The SIT will carry out an independent probe. Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh has been accorded status of martyr," he added.
Additional Director General (Meerut zone) Prashant Kumar had said the protestors from Mahaw village and nearby areas pelted stones on police and indulged in arson, set ablaze several vehicles and Chingarwathi Police Chowki, after some body parts of cows were found in a jungle near the village, prompting the police to open fire on Monday afternoon.
