Abu Salem's plea rejected by Bombay HC

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday rejected Abu Salem’s plea seeking 45-day parole to get married. Salem is a convict in the 1993 serial blasts convict and had approached the high court seeking parole for his marriage with Mumbra resident Kausar Bahar.

Abu Salem’s parole has been rejected twice in the past. Reportedly, this is the third time Salem is going to get married.

A special court had convicted Salem along with four others in the Mumbai blasts case in September last year. The gangster was extradited from Portugal in 2005.

Abu Salem is currently serving life term in jail after he was convicted in the 1993 serial blasts in Mumbai, that killed nearly 300 people and injured many others.

A Delhi court had also in 1993 sentenced him to seven years rigorous imprisonment in a 2002 extortion case.

Mumbai was rocked by 13 explosions on March 12, 1993. Reports suggested that a total of 300 people were killed, while 1400 were injured in the incident.

The Mumbai serial blast was the first attack in the country where RDX was used as explosive.
