The body of a 24-year-old woman, who had gone missing from her home in Greater Noida on Sunday, was found stuffed in a suitcase along NH-24 in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad on Wednesday.
The woman’s husband, who works as a salesman at a garments showroom in mall, has been detained following the complaint by victim’s family who accused him of killing over not fulfilling dowry demands.
Other than detaining Shivam, police have also filed a case against his parents and two brothers. All four are absconding as of now.
The deceased Mala had married Shivam in November 2017 after the two met on social media. She lived with her husband at a rented house in Greater Noida’s Bisrakh where she used to give tuitions.
She had gone missing from her house on Sunday and her body was found on Wednesday stuffed in a suitcase, which was thrown in a drain. The family had lodged a missing person complaint at Bisrakh police station.
Times of India, in its report, cited police saying that the limbs and the neck of the woman had been twisted to fit the body into the suitcase, which can carry 15 pairs of jeans at best.
It is suspected that the woman was strangulated with a towel, which was found around her neck.
As the information spread, Mala's family members reached Indirapuram police station and identified the body with the help of her anklet. The corpse was then sent for post-mortem.
The victim’s kin have alleged that it’s not only their daughter who was killed but also the five-month-old baby she was carrying.
