Gaya: Rocky Yadav, the son JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi who was arrested today on charges of killing a teenager in Bihar's Gaya town, was today produced before a local court which sentenced him to judicial custody for 14 days. In another significant development, the Janata Dal (United) today suspended Manorama Devi on charges that she was protecting her son from being subjected to law.

After his arrest from Gaya today, Rocky claimed innocence denying that he fired any shots.

While he was taken to the custody, Rocky Yadav, his face hooded in black, was paraded before the media. He told reporters: "I didn't shoot anyone. I was in Delhi and came because my mother called me."

Earlier, police said that Rocky had admitted to killing the teenager for overtaking his car in Bihar's Gaya town.

Rocky Yadav, who was on the run since the last two days was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday from his father's factory (Mixer plant) in Bodhgaya.

Addressing the media today, Gaya district SSP Garima Malik said, "We have been carrying out regular raids and based on our interrogation of various people we have made the arrest."

"In his statement, Rocky Yadav has admitted committing the crime," she added.

The police has also recovered the Beretta revolver that was used in the crime. She further assured that anyone involved in the case will not be spared. Accused Rocky was also present at the presser.

Police also confiscated liqour from MLC Manorama Devis house last night. A separate FIR was lodged against Rocky and his father Bini Yadav for storing liquor at their house.

Rocky Yadav, 30, the son of JDU leader and legislative council member Manorama Devi, was missing since Saturday night, when he allegedly shot dead Aditya Sachdeva.

Police said that its preliminary investigation shows that Rocky got into a fit of rage after Aditya’s car allegedly did not let his Land Rover vehicle pass. The row resulted in the teenager being shot dead.

The police on Monday had raided the house of Manorama Devi and questioned her to find the whereabouts of her son.

In a related development, four friends of the murdered youth travelling with him in car on Saturday night, recorded their statements under section 164 of CrPC (recording of confessions and statements).

Md. Nasir, Md. Kaifi, Ankit Kumar and Ayush Agrawal – all friends of Aditya Sachdeva, recorded their statements before the first-class judicial magistrate Rakesh Ranjan Singh narrating the sequence of events leading to their friend’s murder by Rakesh Ranjan Yadav alias Rocky Yadav.

Raids are being conducted at several places for tracing Rocky who has been absconding since the incident, Magadh Zone DIG Saurabh Kumar said.

Rocky’s father Bindeshwari Prasad Yadav alias Bindi Yadav, known in the area for his muscle and money power, and MLC Manorama Devi’s bodyguard were arrested yesterday for allegedly helping the accused escape.

Bindi Yadav allegedly helped Rocky escape after the crime. Police said the silver Land Rover, which is worth at least Rs 1.5 crore, has been recovered from Rocky’s parents’ house.

There are 11 criminal cases lodged against Bindi in the Gaya’s Rampur police station area, where Aditya was killed.  He has malls, hotels and around 15 petrol pumps in Gaya, Bodh Gaya, Delhi and surrounding areas. He is also into road and building construction as well as real estate,” a police official told Hindustan Times.

The JD(U) MLC, however, denied her son's role in the murder of Sachdeva and said Rocky Kumar Yadav was innocent.

MLC Manorama Devi's husband Bindeshwari Prasad Yadav had in past been arrested and 6000 rounds of ammunition of a weapon banned for used by public in 2011 recovered from him.

He had also been jailed in a sedition case.

The licenced pistol allegedly used by Rocky, a member of a rifle club in Delhi, is also expensive.

“It is .32 bore Italian-make pistol, costing around Rs 10 lakh. The licence for pistol has also been issued from Delhi,” a family member said.
