Katihar Superintendent of Police (SP) Siddharth Mohan Jain’s deputation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been cancelled after a video has gone viral on social media in which he is seen firing shots in the air from his service revolver at his farewell party.
Jain, an IPS officer of the 2006 batch, was shifted to the CBI as part of large-scale transfers of top officers by Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar.
In the video, Jain is seen firing shots in the air to match the beats of a song being sung by Mithilesh Mishra, Katihar District Magistrate, at his farewell party.
The Katihar DM was singing the popular song ‘Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Chhodenge’ from Bollywood blockbuster Sholay.
Jain kept firing till the time the magazine of the pistol was completely emptied.
The farewell party for Jain and Mishra was organised on Tuesday evening by the Katihar district administration and police association at the Railway Golf Grounds.
“ Katihar SP’s deputation to the Central Bureau of Investigation has been cancelled. Appropriate action will be taken after an investigation into the matter,” SK Singhal, ADG (Police Headquarters) told India TV.
He also added that Bihar Police will issue advisory to all its officers over their public conduct.
Another video had surfaced recently in which Munger SP, who was transferred to Bhagalpur, was seen dancing on the road with a large group.
