At least eight have reportedly been killed and several missing after a boat they were travelling in toppled in Kosi river near Bhagalpur in Bihar. Reports said seven people have been rescued so far.
Relief and rescue teams with trained divers have arrived at the spot to locate the missing people. Top officials have also rushed to the accident site.
According to local media reports, over 15 people were in the boat when it lost balance and toppled in the middle of the river. They were returning after taking part in a marriage function in Purnia. Eye-witnesses said the boat capsized as it carried people more than its capacity.
