The Muzaffarnagar administration in Uttar Pradesh provided security to the family of a slain witness in Surat rape case ahead of the Jodhpur court’s verdict in 2013 Asaram rape case on Wednesday.
The Jodhpur SC/ST Court today convicted Asaram and two of his aides in 2013 rape case. The court, however acquitted two other accused in this case.
Akhil Gupta, a witness in the rape case against Asaram Bapu in Surat, was shot dead in January 2015 when he was returning home from shop.
Gupta, a cook and personal aide of Asaram Bapu, was gunned down by two motorcycle-borne assailants on Januray 11, 2015.
Two sisters in Surat had accused Asaram and his son Narayan Sai of raping them. Gupta was a witness in the rape case against Asaram and had recorded his statement before a Gandhinagar court.
Ahead of the verdict, the father of Akhil Gupta, the slain witness in Surat rape case, had expressed the hope that the court will do justice to the victim in 2013 Jodhpur rape case.
According to Muzaffarnagar city SP Ombir Singh, security has been provided to the wife and father of Akhil Gupta.
