Following the incident of an Apple executive being shot dead by the Uttar Pradesh Police in Lucknow, 200 police personnel in the state have been put under investigation for alleged laxity in duty. Confirming the development, Uttar Pradesh DGP OP Singh also directed police officials in the state to hold regular meetings with their subordinates and focus on good policing.

"Twelve police personnel have been dismissed and 200 have been put under investigation for alleged anomalies," Singh said.

“Nobody will be spared for playing the law,” he added.

"Traditional methods adopted by police as earlier should be continued for effective policing," the director general of police said.

Accompanied by DIG, Faizabad division, Onkar Singh, the DGP also asked the police officials to use basic and new technologies to control crime.

Vivek Tiwari (38) was shot on Saturday by constables Prashant Chowdhury and Sandeep Kumar while he was going to drop his colleague.

Following the incident, the constables were arrested and were booked for killing the executive.

The Uttar Pradesh government reached out to the deceased’s family, promising Vivek’s wife a job along with providing a compensation of Rs 25 lakh.

While an FIR has already been filed in the case, a second FIR would be registered based on the complaint of the family.
