Srinagar: A day after 16 people died and nearly 200 were injured in clashes between protesters and security forces in Kashmir, the Amarnath Yatra has been resumed.

According to reports, the Ministry of Home Affairs has reviewed the security situation in the Valley, where violence broke out after Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Muzaffar Wani was killed.

The yatra was suspended from last two days with no pilgrim being allowed to move from Jammu to Valley due to the prevailing law and order situation there.

"The passage of yatris from Jammu to the valley was disallowed due to security reasons, those who had already reached the yatra base camps of Baltal and Nunwan (Pahalgam), continued the yatra on Saturday," a senior police officer said.

Meanwhile, authorities today suspended mobile internet services in the entire Jammu region to check spread of rumours following heightened tensions in the Kashmir Valley.

"There is complete peace in the entire Jammu region. Mobile internet services have been suspended as a precautionary measure," the police officer said.

"Internet services are, however, functioning on fixed broadband lines," he said.

Mobile Internet services were suspended in the Kashmir Valley on Saturday after the death of top Hizbul commander Burhan Wani in a gunfight with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district.
