Anerood Jugnauth, Prime Minister of Mauritius, has come out in open support of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘demonetisation’ move.
Jugnauth today said that ‘demonetisation’ was the right thing for India even if it results in "temporary difficulty" for the Indians.
"I am not an Indian, but what I personally think as a Prime Minister is that Modi has done the right thing. People will have some difficulty which will be temporary, but in the long run it will help the country's economy," Anerood Jugnauth told media persons in Goa.
He further said that Mauritius shares a "very special, extraordinary" relationship with India, one which it does not share with any other country.
"There are lots of investments from India in Mauritius and I pray it continues like this," he said.
