Averting a major tragedy, an Air India pilot succeeded in saving lives of as many as 370 passengers on board a flight in New York.
The flight experienced multiple system failure, adverse weather conditions while lack of fuel too added to its woes during landing at the John F. Kennedy Airport.
On September 11, Air India's AI-101 was flying from Delhi to New York, when it found itself between the worst flying conditions, according to news agency ANI.
According to the report, the pilot reported to the Air Traffic Control (ATC) that the flight experienced multiple system failure and was low on fuel, which also restricted its time of flying when the system failed.
The flight even witnessed malfunction of all three of its Instrument Landing System (ILS) receivers on board the jet, which meant the pilot had to manually land the aircraft.
However, the pilot managed to somehow land the aircraft at an alternate designated airport in Newark.
According to the report, Air India has set up an inquiry on aircraft and constituted an internal inquiry under the monitoring of airlines Flight safety department.
