Noida: A property dealer from Noida had his Honda city stolen nine months back in August last year. On Saturday, while looking for used cars on an e-commerce website he luckily found his own car.
Kulwant Singh, the owner of the car and a military man said, after finding his car on OLX, arranged a meeting with the advertiser, informed the police and got him arrested.
Singh had read in the papers that at times stolen goods are sold on online sites and started tracking www.olx.in. Finally after tracking the stolen vehicle for months, he spotted his car bearing the registration number of DL-4C-R-0757, which was being sold for Rs 70,000, according to reports.
Singh's car was put up for sale with the advertiser's mobile number in the link. Then he came in contact with the person named Ahmed, living in Loni and fixed a meeting with him at the Sector 21-25 intersection.
Police then arrested Ahmed. To which Ahmed claimed that he did not stole the car as he himself had bought it from another person, also a resident of Loni.
The condition of the black sedan was in the same way as in which it had been stolen, with even its registration plate intact, police said.
Singh had gone for a walk on August 4, 2015, only to find that his car was missing when he returned.
Following this he lodged a complaint with the police. However, the police failed to make any progress in retrieving the car.
Police further added, the owner of the car was surprised to see the number plate, DL 4CR 0757, which caught his attention when he was surfing OLX .
Singh after trying hard to find his car lost all hope and started looking for a used vehicle. He had filed a complaint at Sector 20 police station for his stolen car.
Dinesh Yadav, SP (city) told media that the car had been stolen from outside Singh's house in Sector 21.
The man arrested had used the car for some months and decided to sell it on OLX. We have identified the main accused as Zulfikar," further told Yadav.
