Malda: With three days left for final leg of polling for West Bengal Assembly elections, four persons including a TMC panchayat Pradhan were killed and three others injured in a crude bomb blast in Jainpur village of Malda district of West Bengal.
The blast took place last night at around 11.30 when bombs were being made in the house of a Giasu Seikh in the area bordering Bangladesh at about 1 am, Superintendent of Police Syed Waqar Raza said.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, the police have begun the investigation to ascertain the identity of the perpatraotrs.
Earlier, on Saturday, a voter turnout of 78.25 per cent marked the fifth and penultimate phase of Assembly polls in West Bengal.
By the end of polling on Saturday, 186 people were arrested in incidents of electoral malpractice and sporadic violence that left at least 15 injured.
