Kolkata: In an incident that revives the grim memories of December 2012 Nirbhaya case, a 25 year old girl was gang-raped  by four to five persons at Salt Lake's Sector-V in a moving vehicle late last night.

The woman had left home in an Uber cab around 11 pm on Sunday to visit a coffee shop, near Sector V in Salt Lake, which houses several IT offices,

She apparently mistook the location and got off near College More at Sector V.

She said she was confused about the location and thus sought help from a youth, who was standing nearby. The youth reportedly said he did not know exactly where the shop was but would confirm the same from his friends. He then called up someone,” a senior police officer said.

Moments later, a car pulled up in front of her and four men, including the man who gave directions, dragged her inside, she said.

They then drove around and raped her repeatedly till early morning, she told the police. She was then thrown out of the vehicle near a bus stop.

They later dumped her near Baisakhi in Salt Lake Sector-I in a critical condition.

She was spotted by a mobile unit of the police, which admitted her to a hospital in the area.

An FIR was lodged with the Electronic Complex Police Station under Salt Lake Sector-V against four to five unknown persons on the basis of her statement given to the police alleging gangrape.

The DC, DD, Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, Kankar Prasad Barui said that they have received the complaint and an investigation is on.

A massive raid was on to nab the culprits, he said, adding, till now there was no arrest.
