New Delhi: The Delhi University on Tuesday announced that admissions to undergraduate (UG) courses for 2016-17 will be fully online while some more changes in the norms have been made.
For two years, the university has been conducting online (entrance-based) admissions for post graduation courses. Last year, it had introduced online admissions along with offline (common form) method for undergrad.
The university's admission committee for 2016-17 also said new norms for admissions including 5 per cent quota increase for Kashmiri migrant students as well as 1 per cent relaxation for women students.
According to the new online admissions procedure, a student will first have to register himself on the varsity website followed by an eight step process for UG admission registration during which various information including personal details, various scanned documents (10th class and 12th class passing certificates), passport size photographs will have to be provided.
The registration will conclude on June 19.
S.K Garg, a member of Admission Committee 2016-17, announced that only five cut-off lists will be announced this year. The first cut-off list will be announced on June 27. After each cut-off list, students will have three days for documents verification and approval for admission. If a student fails to pay the admission fees within three days, they will be allowed to submit it latest by 12 noon on the fourth.
The university will recommend registered students various courses and colleges for UG admissions based on their eligibility against the cut-off list.
To eliminate multiple occupation of seats by a student, the university announced that after each list, a candidate will be able to choose only one course from a college for admission.
Students, who wish to change their course/college, will first have to get their admission cancelled at the college. The cancellation will then be uploaded on the university's website after which the candidate can change their college or course as per their wish.
The second cut off-list be announced on July 1 followed by third cut-off list on July 7 and fourth cut-off list on July 12. The final cut-off list will be announced on July 16. The students seeking admission in morning session of UG programmes of DU will have to approach the college (with application print out from website along with necessary documents) for admission between 10 a.m to 1 p.m. For evening colleges, the admission timings will be 4 p.m to 7 p.m.
Admission at the Equal Opportunity Cell and Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB) will also take place via DU's online admission portal.
For the first time, the Delhi University will conduct qualifications trails for sports quota in various college. Previously, colleges conducted trails and fitness tests independently.
The university has also advised its colleges to keep their admission centres open and help the students.
