Coimbatore: In yet another shameful incident, a 19-year-old college girl reportedly paid Rs 1.5 lakh to kill her own father who opposed her love affair.
According to a Deccan Chronicle report, the police was shocked after they came to know that 19-year-old Mahalaxmi, a computer science student in a private college near Eachanari in Coimbatore, had paid the amount to her boyfriend Satheesh to arrange for shooters to kill her own father, Nagaraj.
60-year-old Nagaraj was a fertilizer merchant who resided near Chokkampudur in Coimbatore. On May 23 night, he had left home for his cattle farm near Devanampalayam in Negamam.
He was later found dead under a bridge near his cattle farm on May 24. Police found several stab marks on his body.
Soon after Negamam police found the body, they lodged an FIR and immediately began the investigation.
The police suspected the involvement of the victim’s 19-year-old daughter Mahalaxmi and her boyfriend Satheesh in the case.
Acting swiftly in the case, police arrested Santhosh Kumar (19), Krishna Kumar (19), Kamala Kannan (21) and Sasikumar (22), all friends of Satheesh, the next morning from Othakalmandpam.
Soon after the arrest of four suspects, Mahalaxmi and Satheesh surrendered in a magistrate court in Coimbatore, following which the two were remanded.
While investigating, police found that the 19-year-old daughter managed to enter false clues in her father’s dairy accounts in order to diver the attention of police.
When police interrogated Mahalaxmi, she demanded the Superintendent of Police to stop the investigation saying that it was reminding her of the loss of her father.
Taking advantage of her father’s illiteracy, Mahalaxmi drew money from his account to buy a new bike for her boyfriend. When Nagaraj came to know about this, he not only scolded her daughter but also sent her out of the house along with his wife, who supported Mahalaxmi’s love affair.
Mahalaxmi along with her mother settled with Satheesh, who rented a house at Malumichampatti. Meanwhile, she sold her jewellery and gave Rs 1.5 lakh to Satheesh to get her father killed.
She told police that she thought this was only way to marry Satheesh and get her father’s property.
