Mizoram elections: Nomination papers of 173 candidates out of 174 filed for the November 7 Mizoram Assembly elections were found valid during scrutiny. The nomination paper of opposition party Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) nominee Dr Lorrain Lalpeklian Chinzah who seeks to contest from the Lawngtlai East constituency was being re-scrutinised because of some discrepancies. Elections to the 40-member Mizoram assembly will be held in a single phase on November 7 and counting of votes will take place on December 3. Altogether, 174 candidates, including 40 each from the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), the main opposition Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) and the Congress, have filed nominations.
