In what could snowball against Sanjay Raut, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader has landed himself in a controversy after he gave unparliamentary statements against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

While addressing a public meeting in Ahmednagar, Raut said, "We have buried Aurangzeb in Maharashtra, then who is Narendra Modi for us... Such is the valour of we Marathis." Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut has given a controversial statement regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sanjay Raut said in his address that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born in Maharashtra and Aurangzeb was born in Gujarat and so are these two businessmen Narendra Modi and Amit Shah."

Sanjay Raut further said, "If you look at the history, Aurangzeb was born in Narendra Modi's village. Next to Ahmedabad is a village named Dahod, where Aurangzeb was born. Aurangzeb was born in Gujarat, that is why they (PM Modi and Amit Shah) are treating us like Aurangzeb. But remember that we have buried one Aurangzeb in this land of Maharashtra. For 27 years, Aurangzeb was fighting to conquer Maharashtra. In the end, we buried that Aurangzeb in the soil of Maharashtra and dug his grave."

Raut had recently given a similar statement while addressing a public meeting in Buldhana. He had said, "Shivaji Maharaj was born in Maharashtra and Narendra Modi was born in Gujarat where Aurangzeb was born."
