RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat suspects ‘foreign powers’ behind Manipur violence, asks 'who is instigating clashes'

Mohan Bhagwat, while addressing the RSS Dussehra rally in Nagpur, said that whenever the restoration of peace in Manipur is closer, some incidents occur which widen the gap between the communities. He suspected that the violence was not taking place on its own, rather was "being made to happen".

Nagpur: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwant on Tuesday (October 24) said that “foreign powers” benefit from conflicts such as Manipur violence and asked if “people from outside” were involved in the sporadic ethnic clashes that rocked the northeastern state for several months. “Meiteis and Kukis were living together for a long time there. It is a border state. Who benefits from such secessionism and internal conflict? Outside forces also benefit. Were people from outside involved in what happened there,” Bhagwat asked while addressing the RSS Dussehra rally at Nagpur.

Bhagwat said that the Manipur violence is not happening on its own and is rather “being made to happen”.

“Union Home Minister Amit Shah was in Manipur for three days. Who actually fueled the conflict? It (violence) is not happening, it is being made to happen. Which foreign powers may be interested in taking advantage of unrest and instability in Manipur? Does the geopolitics of south east Asia also have a role in these events,” he asked.

Bhagwat said that whenever there is a ray of hope of the restoration of peace, there is yet another incident of violence which “widens the gap between the communities”.

“When peace restoration is in sight, some incident occurs. It widens the gap between the communities. Who is behind the people who were doing such acts? Who is instigating the violence?” he asked.

The RSS chief said that he was proud of the workers of the organisation who worked in Manipur aiming to restore peace.

Bhagwat’s caution ahead of general elections

The RSS chief also cautioned against the attempts by political parties to garner votes by inflaming emotions ahead of 2024 general elections and asked people to vote considering the unity, integrity, identity and development of the country.

Bhagwat also referred to the use of “toolkits” used for inciting violence and creating hatred.

“Those who wish for unity cannot insist that all problems should first end before we think about unity. We will have to work peacefully and with restraint, without getting distracted by sporadic events. Three elements, devotion to the motherland, pride in forefathers, and common culture, make us one nation by tying together all diversities of language, region, religion, sect, caste and sub-caste,” Bhagwat said.

RSS chief targets ‘cultural Marxists’

Bhagwat said that cultural Marxists and woke elements promote anarchy, chaos and corruption in society.

“With their influence in media, academia and other sectors, they seek to disrupt societal orderliness, morality, culture, dignity, and restraint,” he said.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister also took part in the RSS event.
