Pune Porsche accident: Reacting to the media reports claiming a connection between the family of the accused in the Pune Porsche accident case and underworld don Chhota Rajan, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday (May 22) said that a “complete investigation” will be conducted into the matter and action will be initiated on everything. A report by Pune Mirror claimed that the grandfather of the accused, the minor boy in this case, had sought assistance from Chhota Rajan in a family property dispute. According to the report, the grandfather, Surendra Kumar Agarwal, had offered to kill the then corporator Ajay Bhosale.

“In the application filed by the CBI, it has been claimed that Surendra Kumar Agarwal offered don Chhota Rajan to kill the then corporator Ajay Bhosale,” the Pune Mirror report claimed.

What did Fadnavis say on the alleged connection?

Speaking to the reporters, Fadnavis said, “Whatever connection there is, the complete investigation will be done. Action will be taken on everything”.

He said that he was surprised by the Juvenile Justice Board's decision on the Pune incident but the police filed a review plea against the decision.

"We have been surprised by the Juvenile Justice Board's decision on the Pune incident. But the police did not stop at that. Police have appealed against the decision and under the cognizance of the higher court, a review petition has been filed before the Juvenile Justice Board," Fadnavis said.

Speaking about the arrests in the case, Fadnavis said, "Those who served alcohol to the underage child have been arrested, and the father who gave him the car has been arrested as well. The police have done whatever is necessary."

Fadnavis on Rahul Gandhi's remarks

Slamming Rahul Gandhi over his comments on the incident, Fadnavis said, "The attempt to bring electoral politics into every issue by Rahul Gandhi is wrong. I condemn this."

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing the PM of creating two Indias where justice is dependent on wealth.

"Narendra Modi is creating two Indias - where even justice is dependent on wealth," Rahul Gandhi posted on X.

Porsche accident case

The accident in Pune took place in the early morning on May 19. The Board’s decision to grant the youngster bail on the same day while asking him to write an essay on road accidents drew massive criticism on social media.

The youngster, son of a real estate developer, was drunk at the time of the accident, police claimed on May 20. A case was registered against him under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder ) of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.

A group of friends were returning on motorbikes around 3.15 am on Sunday after a party when a speeding luxury car hit one of the motorcycles at Kalyani Nagar junction. The two riders — Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa — died of their injuries.
