In a concerning development, another billboard collapsed in Pune due to strong winds, just three days after a similar incident in Mumbai claimed the lives of 16 individuals. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the Pune incident, according to the authorities. The recurrence of such incidents has prompted heightened scrutiny of safety measures surrounding billboards and outdoor advertising structures. Authorities are being urged to take swift action to prevent further accidents and ensure public safety.

Following the tragic incident in Mumbai's Ghatkopar, Pune witnessed a similar mishap as a roadside billboard collapsed onto a stationary mini truck in the Pimpri Chinchwad area on Thursday due to strong winds, according to police reports. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in the incident.

Details of the incident

The incident occurred around 4.30 pm when a 30 x 30 feet hoarding erected at Jai Ganesh Samrajya chowk in the Moshi area collapsed, falling onto a stationary tempo truck and a few two-wheelers. Thankfully, no injuries were reported as there were no individuals inside or on the vehicles at the time, confirmed an official from the Pimpri Chinchwad police.

"A 30 x 30 feet hoarding erected on the margin of the road at Jai Ganesh Samrajya chowk in Moshi area collapsed around 4.30 pm. It fell on a stationary tempo truck and a couple of two-wheelers.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as there was nobody inside or on the vehicles," an official from the Pimpri Chinchwad police said.

Response and cleanup efforts

Authorities swiftly responded to the incident by deploying a crane to remove the crashed iron structure from the scene.

The Pune incident comes just days after the tragic billboard collapse in Mumbai, where a 120 x 120 hoarding installed by Ego Media Private Limited fell onto a busy petrol pump, resulting in the loss of sixteen lives and injuring 75 others. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) discovered that the advertising agency had erected eight additional hoardings.
