Shiv Sena foundation day: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray today (June 19) asserted that he will never go with those who tried to finish off his party, putting paid to speculation about a possible reconciliation with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) post the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

While addressing an event organised in Mumbai on the 58th Foundation Day of the Shiv Sena, Uddhav Thackeray said the Narendra Modi government, which took office on June 9 (Sunday), will collapse and it will be replaced by an I.N.D.I.A bloc-led dispensation.

Thackeray added, "Today, I welcomed not only our winning MPs but also those who did not win. I want the government to fall and elections to be held so that we can form I.N.D.I.A alliance government. I challenge Modi ji openly to start campaigning for Assembly elections from today itself. I challenge PM Modi to go to Andhra Pradesh and say that whatever Chandrababu Naidu has said in his manifesto he will fulfil it."

BJP performance in Lok Sabha polls 2024

On the BJP's performance in the just-held Lok Sabha polls, the former CM maintained the national party was trying to hide its failure by spreading news that the Shiv Sena (UBT) will join the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

"We will never go with those who tried to finish off the Shiv Sena," Thackeray declared, responding to speculation that he will realign with the BJP.

Legislative Council seat polling

Thackeray said no poll should be held for 11 seats of the Legislative Council, where MLAs will be voting, till the Supreme Court rules on disqualification pleas related to some members of the lower house.

Polls for 11 seats of the Legislative Council are slated for July 12 (Friday). Thackeray accused the BJP of abandoning Hindutva and asked whether the national party's alliance with regional outfits Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Janata Dal (United)- JDU was organic.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) president dubbed BJP's Hindutva as regressive and described the one professed by his party as progressive.
