While the world recognises the valour of the Indian Armed Forces, there exists a village in India known as the 'Village of Martyrs.' Located in the Satara district of Maharashtra, this village, named Apshinge, proudly carries the title. Currently, around 300 soldiers from this village serving in the military, along approximately 500 veterans. Remarkably, during the First World War, 47 individuals from this village sacrificed their lives for the nation. Additionally, Apshinge villagers have participated in various military operations, including the India-Pakistan wars, the Bangladesh Liberation War, and the Kargil conflict.
Special theme at polling booths
Amidst the ongoing nationwide elections, today marks the day of voting in this unique village. Due to its association with martyrs, the atmosphere for voting here is particularly poignant. The voters of Apshinge are showing significant enthusiasm during this election. Notably, the polling booths in this village are adorned with a 'Jai Jawan' theme, accompanied by prominent posters from all three wings of the military.
The aim is to achieve 100% voter turnout. Since morning, former soldiers, along with their courageous spouses and other villagers, have been arriving at the polling booths to exercise their right to vote.
Voters satisfied with Modi's work
When discussing with the voters of Apshinge, it becomes evident that many are content with the initiatives undertaken by the Modi government, especially regarding the welfare of soldiers. The youth from this village, serving on the border, express their satisfaction with the facilities provided during Modi's tenure. Residents also appreciate the government's decision to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, a move that has brought relief to many families in the village.
With Pakistan now under control, and initiatives benefiting farmers underway, the villagers commend Narendra Modi's efforts.
