Baba Siddique shot dead: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) senior leader Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai today. He was fired upon by unidentified people in Bandra East. The former state minister was earlier admitted to Lilavati Hospital for treatment, a police official said.
As per sources, two people have been taken into police custody. The incident took place in Bandra East on Saturday. As per reports, it is said that one bullet hit him near the chest.
According to information received from Mumbai Police sources, the 9.9 MM pistol used in the murder of Baba Siddique has been seized.
He was shot near his son Zeeshan Siddique's office who is an MLA from Bandra East. An unidentified person fired at and injured Baba Siddique of the Ajit Pawar-led NCP in Mumbai's Bandra East on Saturday evening. The firing took place outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddiqui's office near Colgate ground in Nirmal Nagar, the official added.
"Two to three rounds were fired. Further probe is underway as teams have rushed to the area," the official said.
Siddiqui had recently joined the NCP from the Congress.
