Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday responded to AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi's recent remarks criticizing the state government's bulldozer actions against 11 houses in which beef was found.
Owaisi's post on social media platform X alleged that the government was targeting Muslims by accusing them of possessing beef and demolishing their houses. While accusing MP’s BJP government, Owaisi drew parallels with the 2015 incident in which a man named Akhlaq was killed by a mob after beef was allegedly found inside his refrigerator.
Owais said, "In 2015, a mob entered Akhlaq's house and killed him, calling the meat in his fridge beef. God knows how many Muslims were killed by falsely accusing them of 'smuggling' and 'theft'.”
Targeting CM Yadav’s government, Owaisi added, “The work that mobs used to do earlier is now being done by the government. The Madhya Pradesh government accused some Muslims of having beef in their fridge and bulldozed 11 houses. The series of injustice does not stop. Before and after the election results, only the houses of Muslims are demolished, only Muslims are murdered. Why are those who get a lot of Muslim votes silent?"
What CM Mohan Yadav said?
Taking exception to Owaisi’s remark, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav gave a sharp reply to the AIMIM chief. He said, "Please tell him [Asaduddin Owaisi] that he should not mistake Madhya Pradesh for Hyderabad. This is Madhya Pradesh and there is a BJP government in Madhya Pradesh, and the BJP government is capable of dealing with all mischievous and hooligan elements."
What is the case?
Notably, local authorities in Mandla in Madhya Pradesh demolished houses built on government land by 11 persons as part of action against the illegal beef trade in the state. Mandla Superintendent of Police Rajat Saklecha stated the action was taken after a tip-off was received that a large number of cows had been held captive for slaughter in the Bhainwahi area in Nainpur, Mandla
"A team was rushed there and we found 150 cows tied in the backyards of the accused. Cow meat was recovered from the refrigerators in the homes of all the 11 accused. We also found animal fat, cattle skin and bones, which were stuffed in a room," the official said. Meanwhile, 150 cows were also recovered from the site and an FIR was registered.
