Monu Kalyane, Indore vice-president of BJP Yuva Morcha, was shot dead late Saturday night in Indore. He was a close aide to senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and MP minister Kailash Vijayvargiya. After the murder of the BJP leader, the party workers set the house of the accused on fire.
Also, the vehicles were vandalized and set on fire by the angry crowd as the news of the attack on the BJP worker spread in the city. As soon as the information about the incident was received, a large number of police forces reached the spot. After the murder, several workers and leaders, including BJP MLA Golu Shukla also reached the spot.
The police station in-charge Vijay Singh Sisodia said, "BJP leader Monu Kalyane was standing near the crossroad at Chicken Bagh, when accused - Arjun and Piyush, both on the bike, reached near Kalyane. Both of them asked him what is the time of the saffron rally in the morning? As soon as he asked this question, Arjun took out a pistol from behind and fired three bullets one after the other into the chest of the BJP leader."
Kalyane got injured due to the bullet shots. Immediately, the locals took him to the hospital where the doctor declared him dead.
After the murder of the BJP leader in the city, the workers and councillors gathered on the road in anger. BJP workers set fire to the house of the accused. Seeing the matter getting worse, a large number of police personnel were called. The police took the body of the BJP leader into custody and sent it for post-mortem.
