You may have heard a range of ways being practiced to curtail one's drinking alcohol habit, from advocating about its ill effects to emphasizing the mental and physical toll it poses on anyone's life. There are several ways available if trying to quit the habit. However, amid the same, Madhya Pradesh Social Justice Minister Narayan Singh Kushwah on Friday has come up with an unusual suggestion for women who want to curb alcohol consumption among their partners.

The Madhya Pradesh Social Justice Minister, while addressing an event in Bhopal aimed at spreading awareness about drug and alcohol abuse, said wives should tell their husbands to drink alcohol at home only, as drinking in front of their wives and children will generate a sense of shame among the men, eventually leading to quitting the habit.

"Those men who come home after consuming liquor from outside, their wives should tell them to bring the liquor home and drink it. If they consume alcohol in front of women and children at home, they will feel ashamed and it will gradually help them get rid of the addiction," he said.

Further, the Minister also advised women not to offer food to their husbands if they come home drunk.

He added, "Those who come home drunk, my advice to their wives is to sleep without leaving any food for them. You should create a community of women who are tired of their husbands' drinking habits and show them the 'belan'."

Meanwhile, it is pertinent to note that during his address at the event, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister also informed that a liquor ban in the state is under consideration at the government level.
