In a horrifying incident in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, a teenage girl was murdered by her former friend. The incident occurred in the Omti area when the 16-year-old victim was attacked by her ex-boyfriend as she was getting out of a car. The accused, unable to tolerate the girl’s new friendship, stabbed her in the neck with a knife. The attacker, identified as Gufran, had planned the murder. As the girl, accompanied by a male friend, was returning home, Gufran followed them. When the car stopped at Ghantaghar and the girl opened the door to get out, Gufran rushed in and stabbed her.
Victim succumbs to injuries
Despite being rushed to a private hospital and later referred to a medical college, the girl succumbed to her injuries en route. The tragic incident took place near her home in Naya Mohalla.
Accused arrested
The police apprehended Gufran late at night. He was a resident of the same locality and worked in a clothing shop. After the attack, he attempted to flee but was arrested at the railway station.
Jealousy and rejection motivated the crime
According to the police, Gufran was previously friends with the victim and had developed feelings for her. However, she had recently befriended another boy, which infuriated Gufran. He had tried to persuade her to continue their relationship, but she rejected his advances.
Car seized, investigation ongoing
Following the attack, the girl's friend, who was present in the car, fled in fear. The police have seized the car and are continuing to interrogate Gufran at the Omti police station.
