The bodies of a couple and three children were found hanging at their residence in a village in Madhya Pradesh’s Alirajpur district on Monday, the police said, adding that prima facie, it is a case of suicide. The deceased were identified as Rakesh Dodwa (27), his wife Lalita Dodwa (25) and their children named Laxmi (9), Prakash (7), and Akshay (5), the official said.

"The information about the death of five people at Ravdi village in Sondwa tehsil was received at 7 am on Monday," the police official said.

A team headed by the Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) of Alirajpur has been constituted to probe the incident, he added.

Statements from all parties are being taken

According to the information received from the villagers, the bodies of Rakesh, son of Jagar Singh; Lalita, wife of Rakesh; their daughter Lakshmi; and sons Prakash and Akshay were found hanging in the house. Rakesh's uncle arrived at the house in the morning and discovered this. The police were then informed. The police have started an investigation to determine whether it was a case of murder or suicide. Statements from all parties were taken.

There was a case against the deceased's father

It is to be noted that about a month and a half ago, the deceased's father was attacked with a sharp weapon. To investigate the entire incident, a team from FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) is arriving from Indore. The police have cordoned off the deceased's house from all sides, and the door is closed. No one is being allowed inside. Surprisingly, a similar incident occurred on July 1, 2018, in Burari, Delhi.
