In a tragic incident, a boat with 11 persons on board capsised in the Seep river at Ramehshwar ghat in Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. Taking prompt action, the rescuers pulled out six people from the water who were "unresponsive".
Meanwhile, four others have been rescued while a search operation is underway for a missing person, an official said.
The tragic incident unfolded in the Manpur area which is about 40 km from the Sheopur district headquarters, at around 4:45 pm. Some local people claimed that strong wind was blowing at the time of the incident which may have become a reason for the accident.
What distrcit SP said?
Giving details about the incident, Sheopur Superintendent of Police Abhishek Anand said to PTI, "At least 11 people were on the board in the boat when it sank. Four persons were rescued, while six others are unresponsive and have been rushed to a hospital. A search is on for another person."
Regarding the condition of unresponsive individuals, he said, “We can't comment on their condition. Doctors will take a call.”
MP CM Mohan Yadav responds
Meanwhile, the state Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reacted over the incident. Taking to X, Dr. Mohan Yadav said, “Tragic news has been received about a boat capsising at Rameshwar Ghat in Sheopur-Chambal river.”
“Collector and SP have reached the spot immediately after the accident. Relief and rescue work is going on at a rapid pace.”
CM Yadav said that the government has instructed state’s Power Minister Pradhuman Singh Tomar to reach the spot and take stock of relief and rescue work.
