At least two women died and 11 others were injured after the vehicle they were traveling in overturned in Madhya Pradesh's Shajapur on Saturday morning. According to the police, the accident occurred when the passenger vehicle lost control while trying to avoid a collision with stray cattle.
Gopal Nigwal, in charge of the Sunera police station, elaborating on the details of the accident, said the incident occurred near Panwadi village on the Agra-Mumbai National Highway, approximately 15 kilometers from the district headquarters, around 6:30 a.m. He said the passengers were part of a Chardham pilgrimage and were returning from Badrinath Dham when the tragic incident unfolded.
Meanwhile, the police have also ascertained the identities of the deceased: Kamla Bai (50) and Janki Bai (40).
They further added that of the total 11 injured, there are five women and six men. While 10 are receiving treatment at the district hospital in Shajapur, the other one has been referred to Indore for further medical attention.
