In the early hours of Friday, a tragic accident claimed the lives of five devotees and left 20 others injured when a tractor-trolley overturned in Madhya Pradesh’s Datia district, according to police reports.
The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. as the group was heading to the Ratangarh Mata shrine. The accident took place near Maithana Pali when the vehicle veered off the road, overturned, and plunged 15 feet into a culvert.
Significantly, while the officials said that the exact cause of accident remains unknown, however they added, it might have occurred as the driver fell asleep while on wheels.
Deceased identified
Meanwhile, the police have identified the bodies of deceased. They said, Sonam (11), Kranti (17), Seema (30), Kamni (19) and Roshni (17), lost their lives in the tragic accident.
Further, the police also detailed upon the injured count. The police informed, among the injured, 17 are admitted to the Datia district hospital, while two have been referred to Gwalior and one to Jhansi, the SDOP said.
"In the aftermath of the accident, one seriously injured girl was referred to Gwalior for further treatment, while another was taken to Jhansi. The remaining injured individuals are receiving medical care within the district," the officials added.
