You never know what goes on inside some of the most places in India, after sun sets into the horizon. These eerie places are everywhere, be it Queen of Hills, Mussoorie or  the princely state of Rajasthan. So, let’s read about some of the most haunted places in India.

Kuldhara, Rajasthan

Situated at 20 kms distance from Jaisalmer, this town is known to be one of the most haunted places in India. This prosperous village was once inhabited by Paliwal Brahmin community who abandoned it overnight. Legend has it that the Prime Minister of Jaisalmer State had his eyes set on village chief’s daughter. However, the chief was opposed to the match. He in turn threatened to levy heft taxes on them. Hence, the entire village packed their bags and left the village. The village remains abandoned. Tourists are allowed to visit during the day only.

Kuldhara, Rajasthan

Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan

Situated in Rajasthan, Bhangarh Fort was built by Sawai Madho Singh in the 17th Century. Bhangarh Fort is considered to be one of the most haunted places across the world. According to the legends, a tantrik casted black magic on the fort and villagers of Bhangarh, after Ratnavati, the princess of Bhangarh rejected the tantrik, who was allegedly in love with Ratnavati. Since then the place is said to be doomed by the curse. Entry to Bhangarh is legally prohibited between sunset and sunrise.

Infact a signboard has also been posted by posted by ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) stating the same and also that legal action will be taken against the offenders.

Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan

Shaniwarwada, Pune

The palace was built in the honour of Peshwa Bajirao I. It saw the heartbreaking incidents of love, betrayal and treachery. In 1773, Narayanrao, the fifth ruling Peshwa, was murdered on the commands of his own uncle Raghunathrao and aunt Anandibai. Legends have it that his ghost can be heard screaming Kaka mala wachawa (uncle save me).

Agrasen Ki Baoli, New Delhi

According to the legends, the Baoli was earlier fill with filthy Black water which attracted mostly disheartened, discouraged and depressed admirers with magnetic effects, hypnotized people to their death by alluring them to jump in the waters. It is believed that the "Baoli of the unseen", used to call for people to offer their lives and raise its water levels.

Agrasen Ki Baoli

Fernhill Hotel, Tamil Nadu

Built in 1844, this heritage property rose to fame when the Bollywood’s famous horror film Raaz. During one night of the shoot, the choreographer and few dancers couldn’t sleep throughout the night because of the sound of moving furniture in the room above them. When they complained to the receptionist in the morning, they were shocked to know that there was no floor above.

Fernhill Hotels, Tamil Nadu

Mukesh Mills, Mumbai

Built in 1870s, Mukesh Mills in Mumbai’s Colaba area was once functional until shut in 1982 after a strike. A few months later, fire broke out in the mill which left it in a shoddy state. The site started to being used for commercial and movie shootings. However, the actors refused shooting there because of the negative vibes and lost goods.

Mukesh Mills

Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad

Situated in the city of Hyderabad, the Ramoji Film City was set up by Ramoji Group in 1996. It is believed that Ramoji Film City was built on war grounds of the Nizam sultans; hence the place is haunted by the ghosts of the dead soldiers.

According to the witnesses, various paranormal incidents were also reported during several shooting in the film city.

Women get troubled by the ghosts of dead soldiers more than the guys in the haunted Ramoji Film City. Torn clothes, shadows in the changing rooms, knocks from the bathroom doors locked from outside are daily occurrences.

Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad

D'Souza Chawl, Mumbai

Located in the Mahim area of Mumbai, D'Souza Chawl, is considered to be one of the haunted places of India. The chawl has a well in its surroundings and was considered to be dangerous as it did not have any walls around it.

It is said that a lady fell into the well while filling water. The lady struggled for quite a time and then died a painful death. Since then her ghost is seen roaming around in the chawl.

According to the residents, many a times a lady is seen every night near the well during the night, which people believe is the ghost of the same unfortunate lady. Though the so called ghost of the lady hasn't harm anyone, still it is advised to all no to go near the well especially at night.

Dow Hill, Kurseong

The Victoria Boys High School is believed to be the place where the spirits reside. Local residents say, sound of footsteps emanating from the school can be heard even when the school is closed for the three long months from December to March.

Locals claim that there is one stretch often called the Death Road where some woodcutters have reported seeing a headless boy following them.

He apparently walks down towards the road and then disappears into the woods. The locals say that anyone having seen him is not spared by his apparition even in his dreams. Several people have reportedly committed suicide because they were depressed of being followed everywhere by the apparition.
