New Delhi: With Valentine's Day around the corner, personal grooming becomes a very important task for people who plan on celebrating the occasion, says a survey conducted by one of the leading matrimonial site.


According to a survey by Jeevansathi.com amongst 3,000 people, 70 percent of people think grooming oneself is absolutely essential.



The survey also says that 70 percent of people spend more than Rs.500 on themselves for the day, said a statement.

In all, 53 percent of the total people who took the survey said their partners' looks matter to them a lot on Valentine's Day while 47 percent of them indicated that they are comfortable with what their partner wears on that day.



Valentine's Day is a working day but 62 percent of the men in the survey admitted to taking the day off, while 45 percent of women have decided to take the day off.

"Valentine's day has become an important part of our social fabric with people celebrating it fervently every year. It has finally gained a status of a festival with people taking a day off to spend time with their beloved ones," said Prakash Sangam, business head of Jeevansathi.com.

"It is even more interesting to note that the percentage of males taking leave on Valentine's Day is more than their female counterparts," he added.

The day also requires a lot of planning and 47 percent of the people said they don't plan at all for the Valentine's Day while 24 percent of them said that they start preparing a week or two in advance.

When asked about how much money they are spending on gifts, 46 percent of the people indicated that they are buying presents in the range of Rs.500-Rs.3,000
