New Delhi: E-commerce website Snapdeal.com has joined hands with Rajasthan Small Industries Corp (RAJSICO) for online promotion and selling of the state's traditional handicrafts.

The website will create a special store exclusively for handicrafts from Rajasthan under the brand name Rajasthali, the flagship brand of the handicrafts marketing wing of The Rajasthan Small Industries Corporation Ltd. (RSIC), a Government of Rajasthan Undertaking.

The partnership is part of Snapdeal's commitment to create life changing experiences for one million sellers in India and empower thousands of artisans and small businesses to sell nationally, said a statement.

Snapdeal will not only onboard government run Rajasthali emporiums on to its platform, but will also provide them assistance for online cataloguing, refining their product offerings through key market insights and marketing support.

The store will be launched in January next year.

“Handicrafts are unique expressions and represent our culture, tradition and heritage,” said Vishal Chadha, vice president market development, Snapdeal.com.

“The industry and the artisans, however, are hampered by lack of direct market access and we are positive that by providing an online platform to these indigenous sellers we will empower the handicraft industry in providing employment and market access to more and more artisans of the state,” he added.

Dinesh MN, managing director of Rajasthan Small Industries Corporation Ltd, also feels that “Rajasthan is the richest state in India in terms of handcrafted items.”

“There are artisans in every village of Rajasthan to create exquisite handmade products. The state boasts of its abundance of craft making skills," he added.

Rajasthali established as early as 1961, helps in development of handicrafts and their blending with modern requirements.
