New Delhi: Flexing muscles and building abs are new obsessions among the youths but the protein which they intake while pulling hefty weights can be harmful if consumed without an appropriate advice.

Kris Gethin who has been the fitness advisor for Bollywood hunks like Hrithik Roshan, John Abraham, Ranbir Kapoor among others in a seminar held in Delhi for body supplements emphasized over the need of protein supplement for a body builder but only with a proper guidance.

There are plenty of options available in the market for proteins, which also are unsafe. Kris cautions about such proteins as they carry a huge amount of lactose and sugar, which builds artificial sugar in the blood. The regular intake of such proteins unruly the usual blood flow and invites diabetes.

Kris further adds that protein supplement simply implies fat-free milk taken with dry protein. But you don't need to worry about it. The fitness guru says that protein supplement's purity could be judged by its hologram, which is being recently introduced by the experts.

Here are few other tips the fitness freak has for you-

Supplement should be consumed within half an hour post exercise.

Apart from that, egg and milk are good options while milk and banana together are bad since iron and protein generated from them respectively isn't a viable combination for a human body.

A diet chart should be prepared according to age and weight of a person.

In spite of having a lot of food together, a little at every half an hour would be a good option.
