The new age moms of today readily go under knife even after C-section, due to an irresistible urge to get in shape soon after delivery. Ignoring the perils, the new moms opt for quick fixes, called The Mummy Makeover in order to knock off the pregnancy weight gain.

Earlier, the curious ones used to wait atleast a couple of months to an year before going for another operation. However, now the younger brigade insists on cosmetic surgery right after delivery despite the various health risks for both mother and child.

Mini abdominoplasty, breast surgery, tummy tucking, muscle tightening are some of the areas worked upon under this Mommy Makeover surgery. A horizontal cut is made between the pubic bone and the navel and skin is pulled back by removing the excess fat. Then the abdominal muscles are tightened by stretching the skin flap down and new hole is made for the belly button.

“Women are advised to wait six months after they stop breast-feeding for slimming surgery.”It's generally not advisable but when a woman is insistent, being aware of the risks, surgeons do concede if all parameters are stable” Dr. V. Purushothaman, plastic surgeon with Apollo First Med told to Times of India.

Another doctor, A Jeya Prakash, plastic surgeon at The Medical Park, Thiruvanmiyur, says a tummy tuck at the time of delivery would require atleast a 2-week recovery, denying the woman a chance to attend to her child in those crucial early days.”

Similarly, one more doctor, Mohan Thomas added number of women ready to go under knife, three months after delivery has doubled in the last decade. He said that they persuade ladies to wait for a year so that they can provide uninterrupted care to the child atleast for a year.
