New Delhi: Maa Durga's incarnation as Kushmanda is worshiped on fourth day of Navratri. Maa Kushmanda possesses eight arms, holding weapons and a mala or rosary.
Her mount is a tiger. Maa Kushmanda has the power to live inside the Sun. Maa Durga is worshiped with fragrances, flowers, incenses, diyas and rice.
It is believed that Maa Kushmanda is Goddes Parvati's avatar. After taking form of Siddhidatri, Goddess Parvati started living inside the center of the sun so that he can liberate energy tro the universe.
Since then she was called Maa Kushmanda. It is said that the glow of her body is as luminous as that of the Sun.
She is depicted as seated on a lion, and possesses eight arms. She resides in solar systems and represents all knowledge. Seven types of weapons are shown in seven hands and prayer beads in her right hand.
Rosery represents her power to bless her devotees with Ashtasiddhi (8 types of studies or wisdom sources) and Navanidhi (9 types of wealth). She likes the offerings of “Kumhde.” Therefore her name “Kushmanda” has become famous.
On the auspicious fourth day of Navratri pooja, this personification of Goddess Durga is religiously Worshiped with full of veneration. Devotees chant Mantra, Stotra, Durga Stuti and admire Goddess Kushmanda to delight her.
