New Delhi: The on-going Miss Universe competition witnessed the most jaw dropping segment and that is the National Costume show.
The contestants in the 63rd annual competition took part in the National Costume show at Florida International University in Miami.
The ladies wore an elaborate range of costumes spanning from the Buckingham Palace Queen's Guard to the National tree of Venezuela.
But it was Miss India Noyonita Lodh's ensemble that stole our heart. This year Miss India team gave a break to typical lehenga as National costume and went with something out-of-the-box.
India's contestant Noyonita Lodh was selected as the top five finalists from the National Costume round. Her costume was designed by ace designer Neeta Lulla.
It looked like Noyonita was portraying an Indian Goddess in a quirky way.
The beautifully crafted accessories were designed by Tejas Jogani. We really liked the twist which the team brought this year.
Definitely it was a refreshing change for all of us to see Miss India wearing something dramatic yet dainty.
21-year-old Noyonita Lodh, Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva Universe 2014 from Bangalore will represent the country at Miss Universe 2014 in Miami, Florida on Jan 25. The winner of Miss Universe will get prize money of $50,000.
"Beauty pageants have a lot of social responsibilities attached to it and that is why contestants work towards a cause.
Apart from this, it is also very important to look into social issues and work towards the betterment of the country," Noyonita said before leaving the country for the competition.
The organisers of the beauty pageant revealed the top five contestants and they are Miss Universe India, Miss Universe Argentina, Miss Universe Indonesia, Miss Universe Canada and Miss Universe Germany.
