Candolim: If you're planning a vacation but are confused about styling up your look, designer James Ferreira has the answer in his new collection which, he says, is as suitable on the beaches of Goa as among the Swiss Alps.
The designer, known for his unique draping style, worked up his magic at the Gionee Smartphones India Beach Fashion Week 2015 (IBFW) when he showcased a line which resonated sharp tailoring teamed with bright prints and solid colours.
For the debut edition of IBFW, Ferreira innovated and experimented with construction techniques, introducing double layered saris and a combination of knit and jerseys on kurtas.
He feels his collection offers varied options for destination fashion.
The fabrics are black linen, silk and organza, cut in unique asymmetric shapes, adorned by bright prints and marked by oversized appliques.
The show opened with a group of black cocktail dresses moving to a peplum hemline dress followed by an interesting black sheath.
For those blessed with a toned figure and legs, there were minis, midis and maxis with hints of geometric designs, apart from the draped sari gowns, the cowled overlap maxi and checked printed ensembles.
Looped hemlines, that is said to be one of the favourite areas of the designer, were created either on the front or back of few dresses, thereby adding sensuality to the entire look and feel of the garments.
