Cambridge: There is a striking difference between the brains of seriously anti-social teenage boys from  those of whose behave in a better way, claim scientists.

According to the scientists at Cambridge University, there are changes seen as variations in the thickness of the brain’s cortex or outer layer of neural tissue, which may result from abnormal development in early life.

All the anti social behaviour or not thinking about well being of other person is related to difference in brain structure, suggest scientists.

Scientists compared the thickness of different brain regions in groups of young people, some of whom had been diagnosed with conduct disorder.

The results found were associated with condition of brain. Thus characterized by persistent behavioural problems including aggression, violence, lying, stealing, and weapon use.

Those who started conduct disorder at early age but it was diagnosed later in life during adolescence showed different brain development patterns.

To get a picture various regions of brain,MRI scans were used by scientists.

The researchers first studied 58 male adolescents and young adults with conduct disorder and 25 “typical” individuals aged between 16 and 21.

Their findings were then replicated in 37 individuals with conduct disorder and 32 “healthy” controls, all male and aged between 13 and 18.

The results are published in the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry.
