Take a step forward to eradicate depression in children and young adults

Let’s face it- Mental Health has become a growing issue in our society. Many people especially youth show the symptoms of depression and other mood disorders every day. On the other hand, many children suffer from anxiety and school refusal. Not just this but they suffer from Autism and conditions like reading and writing disabilities. People don’t usually realise that they are suffering from a mental health problem as these are hidden illnesses. Therefore, it is even more important that we write, talk and spread awareness about this.

From heredity, to neurobiology, to certain childhood traumatic experiences, or later in life, studying or working under a stressful environment to being unable to cope with the stress in personal life, there can be numerous reasons for depression or other mental health disorders. It is important we understand what is happening with us and with correct guidance, take a step towards a better life.

Each year we fight stigma, provide support, educate the public and advocate for equal care. This time again we have joined hands with ‘Imagine’ to take a step forward to spread mental health awareness, especially in children and youth, in order to make people realize that it is okay to speak about it and get the required help. India TV Editor-In-Chief and Chairman, Rajat Sharma, also voiced out his support for mental health awareness initiative rolled out by Imagine With Children First, who are providing a forum to bring together experts at the national and international level to share ideas and practices that can make this world emotionally safer for our children and youth.  Check out the video here-
