Guru Purnima is one of the most auspicious day of the Hindu calendar. It is celebrated to commemorate the contributions made by our teachers to the society. It is observed on a full moon day in the month of Ashadha (June-July). People are celebrating Guru Purnima in different ways, while social media is busy talking about the importance of this full moon night. But amid those social media users, there was an unlikely talkers. NASA Moon, NASA’s official account about Earth’s moon is talking about Guru Purnima as well. 

In the tweet, NASA talks about many names given to the full moon this weekend, which includes Guru Purnima as well. You might like to know other names of the full moon, like Hay Moon, Ripe Corn and Thunder Moon. It has also posted a spectacular picture of a full moon along with the tweet. They also called this moon ‘their favourite’. 

The tweet has been liked by more than 7 thousand users and retweeted by 4800 users. NASA’s official handle also retweeted this picture.

Guru Purnima is an Indian festival celebrated by mainly Hindu, Buddhists and Jains. It is dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers. Many people observe a fast on this festival and end it after their evening Puja. This festival also marks the first day in the peak of lunar cycle.
