Aurangabad restaurants may be using dog meat in Biryanis

It wasn’t long before rumours about momo sellers in Delhi using dog meat in the delicacy broke out, that another harrowing news has taken over the internet. We all admit to the guilty pleasures of eating street foods at unreasonably low prices. But did we ever care to ascertain the source of this food? After reading this news, people will start checking the ingredients of their food, not once but twice.

Members of Central Government's Animal Welfare Board have raised a concern with Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) regarding some restaurants incorporating dog meat to prepare biryani to cut short on their production expenses. In accordance of the advice issues by women and child development minister, Maneka Gandhi, Mehar Matharani visited the officials and informed them about the same. She even had a meet with AMC Commissioner D.M. Mungalikar and other senior officials regarding the issue.

Shocking detail of the report is that they found many dog dead bodies in the city and most of them had missing body parts, signalling towards the issue. This shocking practice will not only make the hapless street dogs vulnerable to butchery, but will also affect the health of one’s who consume them.

Mehar Matharani has adviced the authorities to keep a check on the population of stray dogs to track any killings taking place.
