Rating: 3 stars
Epiphany: Tales of Revelation is the first solo offering of author Ankita Rathour. Prior to this, she had a poem in an anthology named ‘Shout it Out!’ to her credit.
The first thing that strikes you about this book is its title and the aptly designed cover by Krishna Sharma.
The book consists of as many as 45 poems, to which a new age reader could instantly relate.
The fast paced and conversational style narrative of the book connects with the reader in every possible way.
When we go through the poems, we realize they are primarily about love; something which have been long missing from the world of novels and stories.
At a time when all this is considered a cliché, the attempt by the author succeeds in establishing a mark.
One cannot miss the amalgamation of love and pain throughout the poetry. Various themes run through the poems- celebration of love, dedication, self- revelation, reminiscence and angst.
The tone is bold, beautiful and rebellious though you might feel that you could have easily had some more poems to the list- 45 is indeed not a very large number.
In a nutshell, it is definitely worth a read as it very well reflects the insurmountable emotions that a heart in love goes through.
The book is moderately priced and easily available at www.cyberwit.net, www.amazon.com, www.flipkart.com. Do give it a try but do not pit it against the giants of the genre of love poetry. Give it a humble read.
