Energy drinks which contains stimulant drugs is often consumed for an instant boost, however, your like for an instant energy may be deteriorating your health. According to a new study, these energy drinks cause numerous physical and mental problems. A study published in Frontiers in Public Health says that drinking energy drinks leads to health issues such as obesity, heart trouble, increased blood pressure, anxiety and kidney problems.

 The study also highlights the dangerous trend of mixing alcohol with energy drinks. People who consume the mixture, drink more because energy drinks dilute the effects of alcohol inebriation thus, leading to increased consumption.The researchers advised that energy drinks should be completely avoided by kids and teenagers. They also called for limit in its sale and also the amount of caffeine in the drink.

Energy drinks are made of water, sugar, caffeine, certain vitamins, minerals and stimulants such as ginseng, guarana and taurine. However, the quantity of caffeine varies. Some contains 100 mg caffeine per fluid ounce which is 12 times higher than a regular coffee cup. Scientists suggest that adults should consume 400mg of caffeine daily.

Energy drinks have negative effects on health mainly due to caffeine and sugar content. It can also cause other health risks such as stress, stomach issues, irritation and shortness of breath.
