The Bengaluru court on Tuesday extended judicial custody of sexual assalut and rape accused suspended JDS leader Prajwal Revanna. The 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) special court for representatives pronounces the extension of his judicial custody.

Notably, he was arrested in a case registered against him in Holenarasipura in Hassan district on April 28. He was accused of sexually harassing a 47-year-old former maid. Revanna is listed as accused number two, while his father and MLA, H D Revanna, is the main accused. By the time the case came to light, Revanna had left the country and was later arrested on May 31 following his arrival to India. He had left for Germany on April 27, a day after Hassan went to the polls.

Third extnesion of judicial custody

Following his arrest the court sent him to SIT custody till June 6 which was later extended till June 10. He was arrested in a sexual abuse case after a string of obscene video showing Revanna got circulated on social media. On June 10, the court had sent him to 14 days of judicial custody, but the SIT today sought a body warrant against him in connection with a cybercrime case. Later on June 14, his custody was exteneded till June 18.

Bhawani Revanna gets anticipatory bail

Earlier in the day, Karnataka High Court granted anticipatory bail to Revanna's mother Bhavani Revanna. She was booked along with her husband HD Revanna in an abduction case filed at KR Nagar Ppolice Station in Mysuru. The court granted the anticiapatory bail with a condition that she will not visit Mysore and Hassan under any circumstances, except for police investigation.

The Court underscored that Bhavani had already answered 85 questions during the investigation, making it unfair to claim that she was not cooperating with the SIT, which is probing sexual abuse cases against Prajwal.  Earlier she was granted the anticipatory bail on June 7, however it was then extended on June 14.
