As many as seven people were killed and 12 others were injured in an accident between two auto rickshaws and a truck in Hospet taluk in the Vijayanagar district of Karnataka on Friday, said police. The police said that 19 people were travelling in two autos when the accident happened.
Of 12 injured, four were said to be in serious condition and they have been shifted to Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) in Ballari. While others are being treated at Hospet government hospital. Among the deceased, five were women and two men. The police said that the deceased were from Ballari and were travelling in the cargo autos. However, their identity is being ascertained.
