Karnataka: 5 pilgrims from Andhra killed, 13 injured as car rams into stationary truck in Yadgiri

Karnataka accident: The deceased were pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh. At about 2 am the driver lost control over the vehicle and hit a stationary truck at Padichakra village in Yadgir district.

Karnataka accident: In a tragic incident, at least five people were killed and 13 sustained grave injuries when a car rammed into a stationary truck in Karnataka's Yadagiri district on Tuesday. According to police, the injured were shifted to a hospital in Kalaburagi after the incident occurred near Balichakra Cross in the Yadgiri district.

The deceased were pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh, including a woman and a girl.

These pilgrims were from Vellagud village in Atmakur Taluk of Nandyal district of Andhra Pradesh and were on the way to attend Khwaja Bandenawaz Urus fair in Kalaburagi district, the police said.  At about 2 am the driver lost control over the vehicle and hit a stationary truck at Padichakra village in Yadgir district, they added. 

10 people killed in another accident

Earlier on May 29, at least 10 people were killed after a collision between an Innova car and a private bus took place at T Narasimhapura near Mysuru in Karnataka. According to police, there were 11 people including 2 children in the car.

The collision was so severe that the car was completely damaged in which 10 people have died. The deceased were returning to Mysuru after visiting Male Mahadeshwara Hill, they added.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed grief over the incident. He also announced Rs 2 lakh compensation each for the family of the deceased. Those who were injured will be provided treatment.
