Tara, a sniffer dog has helped the Karnataka Police gain crucial leads in solving a murder case. The 11-month-old dog, a Belgian Malinois breed, is a part of the Davangere Police Canine Dog Squad which aids the police come up with clues in crime-related cases.
What was the case?
A woman identified as Lalitamma, from Sriramanagar filed a case on August 6 at a police station regarding the murder of her nephew, Narasimha, who was allegedly mercilessly killed by an unidentified person.
Soon after the receipt of the complaint, a police team started the investigation and called the dog squad to get some leads in the case.
Tara rushed to the crime spot on August 7 and looked for new evidence and clues. The police said that the crime took place nearly six hours ago.
Tara back at work
Tara ran towards the direction leading to a house of the suspect, identified as Shivayogish at SOG colony in Sriramnagar.
The suspect’s neighbours told the police that he had been away. The suspect was later taken into custody during which he confessed to the crime. He was later sent to the judicial custody.
Tara, who played a significant part solving this case, has a remarkable sniffing capability which enables her to uncover leads, thus helping the police solve cases. She has so far provided breakthroughs in two theft cases and one murder case.
